PE and Sports Provision

Our Vision

Through PE and sport, our vision is for children to develop the important values of self-belief, commitment, motivation, teamwork and resilience. We hope that this will lead to improved concentration, positive attitudes, overall health and raising of our standards in PE and other curriculum areas. We believe that every child deserves the right to feel confident and supported in their PE lessons and we work hard to ensure an inclusive, empowering learning environment where all achievements are actively celebrated.

PE and Sport Funding

We really welcomed the government’s announcement in June 2013 to provide every primary school with additional funding for two years to improve the quality of PE and sport provision. We are committed to using this funding to develop high quality PE lessons and greater opportunities in sports and competitions for all children.

At Amy Johnson we are using the additional funding by:

  • Joining the Sutton School Sports Partnership which provides specialist support for teachers and children.
  • Participating in a range of school to school, borough and county competitions and festivals.
  • Co-ordination of external coaching; assisting schools in identifying suitable coaches and organisations, providing quality assurance and training in curriculum delivery and lesson planning.
  • Provide equipment and training to support extra-curricular clubs.
  • Sharing of good practice between schools and provide networking opportunities to include an Annual Conference, termly PE Coordinator Meetings and coordination of new cluster groups. Continuation of liaison with secondary schools to utilise facilities, Young Leaders and expertise.
  • Celebrating all of our pupils progress and achievements through termly PE assemblies, and regular news on the school website and in the newsletter.
